MACCUMHAILL’S coasted to victory to clinch a final place in the Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure Under-21B Championship and a meeting with St Naul’s next weekend.

MacCumhaill’s  0-17

Milford 0-8

The Twin Towns side led by 0-10 to 0-5 at half-time, six points from the impressive Oisín Gallen (pictured above) was the main feature of the half although Milford will be disappointed with some of the wides they hit in that opening half.

Padraig Patton opened the scoring for the winners in the first minute and was denied a goal a couple of minutes later by a good save from Gavin McFadden. Oisín Gallen then kicked two frees before Kane Barrett’s free opened Milford’s account in the ninth minute.

Gallen replied with a super point from play but Conor Mc Hugh did likewise for Milford.  Gallen  kicked two more frees but each time he scored Conor Gormley and Kane Barrett replied for Milfoird to leave it 0-6 to 0-4 in MacCumhaill’s favour.

They then produced a dominant 12 minutes period before half-time, scoring four points without reply from Karl Dunnion, Shaun Friel, Oisín Gallen and Niall Mc Closkey before Conor Gormley got Milford’s fifth point in the 32nd minute.

Vincent Griffen, McCloskey and Gallen again, then Patton and Gallen  made it five scores in a row and a 0-15 to 0-5 and game over.

Kane Barrett kicked three frees but Gallen with his eighth point and sub Rory Mulligan finished off a comfortable win for MacCumhaills, who will now take on St Naul’s this coming Saturday.
