LAGAN HARPS ARE today celebrating victory in the Under-16 Champion’s League, following their success over Kilmacrennan Celtic.

Kilmacrennan Celtic 1-4 Lagan Harps

Two goals from substitute Ethan Coll put the seal on the victory, with Kennan Diver and Jack Parke also on the scoresheet. Despite the scoreline, Kilmacrennan Celtic contributed hugely to the contest and did manage to score through a Stephen Black penalty.

It was Lagan who extracted the first chance of the game, when it took a good save from Darragh Russell to stop a free-kick from  Parke.

Lagan continued to create chances and on 20 minutes, they took the lead. Diver was on hand to head home from a corner that was delivered by Jack O’Donnell.

Kilmacrennan started to play their way into the contest and it was on 28 minutes that a Conor Black free-kick, one which was headed goalwards by Carlos O’Reilly, was headed off the line by Lagan’s Diver with goalkeeper Oisin Bonner beaten.

The equaliser finally came on 31 minutes when Black converted a penalty following a handball decision awarded by referee Vincent McLoughlin against Jonathan Coady.

However, just five minutes later, on 36 minutes, Lagan went back in front through a brilliant long range effort by Parke.

It was almost 2-2 at half-time, only for Darren Ferry to clear off the line from Steve McDaid.

At the start of the second half, Kilmacrennan went close again as Oisin Cassidy, after a fine run in which he beat three defenders, shot just wide of the far post.

But Kilmacrennan were made to rue that missed opportunity when Parke played a super ball through to substitute Coll, who rammed into the bottom corner for a 3-1 lead on 53 minutes.

Then, on 73 minutes, it was 4-1 when a fine move that involved Ferry and Shay Harkin saw Coll tuck home.
