THE DONEGAL senior footballers will play two challenge games in New York next April as part of a fundraising visit next April.

Rory Gallagher’s team will play the New York senior team at Gaelic Park on Thursday, April 13 and again on Saturday, April 15.

Donegal County Board Chairman Sean Dunnion confirmed the news this afternoon in his annual address to County Convention at the Abbey Hotel.

This week, the Donegal Board accepted an invite from their New York counterparts.

“This provides is with a great opportunity to do some major fundraising during the six-day visit, make some new contacts and build the relationships further we already have forged with contacts in New York, Boston and Philadelphia,” Mr Dunnion told club delegates at Convention.

“The primary element of the fundraising will take place on Friday April 14th with a golf classic during the day followed by a reception and auction in the evening.

“Other smaller events, a fundraising draw, meetings and presentations to business people are currently being discussed with the New York County Board and Donegal New York GAA Club and further details will be announced early in the New Year.”

The trip will come after the completion of the Allianz League and will aid both Donegal and New York in their preparations for next year’s Championship.
