Today was a blustery day on Sentry Hill, but that didn’t stop the Red XI and Colours XI clashing swords in one of the games of the year in Páirc Adhamhnain.
Red XI 2 Colours XI 0

The game started off slowly with both sides employing a ‘hoof it’ approach early on.
The standard was not at the level we’re used to seeing from the two sides but the passion on display was extraordinary.
Experienced whistler Sean Carr had his work cut out as both sides were involved in skirmishes in the early period of the game.
He struggled to maintain control and Eoin O’Boyle, Darragh Doherty and Barry Gallagher can count themselves lucky to have stayed on the pitch for the duration of the game.
The game sprung into life however in the 21st minute when Keelan Carberry poked home from around 10 yards, the Glenswilly native scoring his first goal for the Reds since the Halloween break.
It wasn’t long before the Colours were struck another blow as Mark McDaid guided Eamonn Devenney’s cross low and hard past Michael Lagan.
From there, the Colours found it hard to get back into it and began to lose discipline once again. Peter McEniff interfering with a Red XI free before O’Boyle flung Red captain Cathal Kilcullen to the floor in what can only be described a vicious assault on the boy of Falcarragh heritage.
Carr again failed to show a card as the game slowly fell into anarchy.
Both sides were relieved to hear the final whistle in the end with the Reds picking up the Christmas trophy on the path back into the school.
Reds XI captain, Cathal Kilcullen was thrilled after the game stating that this was “the stuff of dreams”. O’Boyle refused to comment.
A big day in Páirc Adhamhnain as it ended Red XI 2-0 Colours XI.
