DONEGAL-DERRY VIPERS’ ‘Mr Consistency’ Peter Farrell has been called up to the Irish American Football Team.

Farrell made it through the recent try-outs, held at the National Sports Campus in Dublin and will now join with Team Ireland for training in February.

The Vipers won the IAFL 2 Bowl game in August and secured promotion to IAFL 1 following an unblemished season.

Farrell was one of the stars of the show.

In the unbeaten season, Farrell was the defensive player of the year. Following his fine campaign in the Vipers defensive line, the club nominated him for the Irish try-outs.

Over 100 players across the country tried out for positions in the team.

Farrell, a part-time farmer and full-time administration worker from Strabane, has dedicated himself to his sport for the last four years and came through the tryouts to be selected.

“He has trained four and five nights a week for over 10 months now to fulfill his dream of pulling on the Irish Jersey and representing his country and travelling all across Europe to play the sport he loves,” said Cathal Curran of the Donegal-Derry Vipers.
