Fantasy Football: ‘Humdingers’ lead the way – but only just

DEIRDRE MEEHAN LEADS the Donegal Sport Hub Fantasy Premier League, in association with Champions Travel.

Meehan had an unspectacular week, where her ‘Humdingers’ managed to take home 47 points, thanks mainly to two goals and 14 points from Arsenal’s Alexis Sánchez (pictured) in his side’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

That means that Meehan’s total points for the campaign to date are 769, which is just two in front of Martin Brogan in second place.

Brogan’s team, ‘Donegal1975’ managed to scrape 42 points, with his leading points scorer coming from an unlikely source – West Brom’s Gareth McAuley, who picked up 10 points in the 1-1 draw at Hull City.

Currently in third place is Carole McFadden’s ‘its in the game’ with 759 points having gathered 59 over the weekend.

McFadden had three players hitting double figures, which certainly helped her reach a decent total – they were Liverpool’s Sadio Mané (12), Christian Benteke from Crystal Palace (10) and the aforementioned Sánchez.

Barry Mailey is overseeing the fortunes of ‘Slumdogg mignolet’ – the team that posted 64 points to move onto 745 for the season. Mailey had Sergio Agüero to thank for two goals as his Manchester City team won 2-1 at Burnley on Saturday.

And completing the top five this week – in joint fourth – is Lee Elliott’s ‘Liggys 11’ following a 76-point haul to reach 745 alongside Mailey.

Elliott had four players on double figures – Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace following his 10 points, as well as Agüero, Gareth McAuley and Sánchez.
