THE CUPS for the Sketchers SFAI Ulster finals have been named after some local football personalities.

The finals at Under-12, Under-13, Under-14, Under-15 and Under-16 level take place this weekend.

The games are in the last 64 of the respective SFAI Cup competitions, but have been turned into Ulster finals to add a little more prestige.

This evening at Dry Arch Park, Bonagee United take on Swilly Rovers in the Under-15 final, with the winner to b presented with the Dessie Kelly Cup.

One of Donegal’s leading administrators, Kelly (pictured above with Charlie Collins) who is the Chairman of Letterkenny Rovers, served as secretary of both the Donegal League and the Ulster Senior League.

He was instrumental in the development and maintenance of the Diamond Park, Ballyare and has served on many committees within the FAI.

Bonagee also have home advantage in the Under-13 final tomorrow morning as they are scheduled to play host to Cappry Rovers.

Swilly are also in final action tomorrow when they travel to Lagan Harps in the Under-16 final. The prize for the Under-16 winners will be the Seamus Coleman Cup, named after the current Republic of Ireland captain and Everton full-back, who played in the Donegal Schoolboys League as a teenager.

These two Cups are the only two named from people from the Donegal Schoolboys area.

Carndonaghan FC host Ballybofey in the Under-12 decider and Letterkenny Rovers make the trip to Carrick Rovers in Monaghan for the Under-14 final.
