THE NOMINATIONS have been confirmed for next month’s annual Donegal GAA Convention – and there won’t be too many contests for positions.

The final list of nominees were released this evening.

The Convention takes place on December 11 and the talking points on the elections will be confined to the positions of Coaching Officer, Central Council Delegate and Ulster Council Delegates.

County Chairman Sean Dunnion (pictured) has a free run for a fifth and final year in the top seat, while Frankie Doherty (Vice Chairman), Aideen Gillen (Secretary), Declan Martin (Assistant Secretary), Cieran Kelly (Treasurer), Paddy Tinney (Assistant Treasurer), Ed Byrne (PRO), David McLoone (Development Officer) and Fergus Mac Aoidh (Oifigeach Gaeilge agus Cultúir) will all retain their portfolios without opposition.

Anthony Harkin has served his time in the Coaching Officer’s role while Pat Connaghan’s time as one of the Ulster Council delegates is also up.

Mick McGrath, who has vacated the Children’s Officer’s role to be succeeded by Gary Duffy, is one of three nominees for the Coaching Officer’s berth, alongside Pauric Harvey and Conor McDermott.

Killybegs man Connaghan is nominated alongside the incumbent, Seamus Ó Domhnaill, for the Central Council post.

PJ McGowan can seek another term for his Ulster Council Delegate post while others in the mix at the moment are Pat Walsh, Anthony Harkin, Liam McElhinney, Mick McGrath, David Kelch, Brendan Kelly, Grace Boyle and Denis Ellis.
