DONEGAL’S 2017 Ulster SFC game against Antrim has been moved forward a week.

The game will now be played on Sunday, May 21st next year following a request from a television company to move the fixture.

The Derry v Tyrone quarter-final will now be played on Sunday, May 28.

Donegal are understood to have opposed the proposed change, but the Ulster Council has voted to go with the proposal, meaning Rory Gallagher’s team is out a week earlier than expected.

The game is another home fixture for Donegal, who have had a Championship game in Ballybofey in 14 of the last 16 summers.

Donegal have reached the last six Ulster finals, winning in 2011, 2012 and again in 2014. Tyrone are the reigning holders having defeated Donegal in July’s final with Monaghan taking home the Anglo Celt Cup in 2013 and 2015.

Gallagher has a new team trainer, Richard Thornton, in place for 2017, while he has been boosted this week with confirmation that Karl Lacey and Frank McGlynn will be at his disposal again and it is likely that Christy Toye, Neil Gallagher and Rory Kavanagh will also be back in the fold.
