NAOMH CONAILL had too much firepower for Four Masters in last night’s Under-21 quarter-final at Sean MacCumhaill Park.

Naomh Conaill 4-9 Four Masters 0-9

Two goals by Eoghan McGettigan and one each from Jack Flannery and Paul McGuinness fired Leo McLoone’s Naomh Conaill into the semi-finals of the competition.

McGettigan netted a pair of first half goals with McGuinness also netting in the opening half-an-hour, after which Naomh Conaill were 3-4 to 0-5 ahead, a lead of eight points.

Four Masters stayed in touch for as long as possible thanks largely to the points of Thomas McGowan and Darren Doherty, but the Donegal town men just didn’t have the arsenal of Naomh Conaill.

McGettigan bagged his first goal in the tenth minute. Ciaran Thompson’s ball in worked the chance and McGettigan, after a one-two with Jeaic Mac Ceallabhui, fired past Ryan Haughey.

McGettigan repeated the trick again in the 26th minute. JD Boyle’s piercing run concluded with an off-load to Thompson, who fed McGettugan and he blasted home.

That was Naomh Conaill’s third goal and came just three minutes after McGuinness raised the green glag. Kieran Gallagher and Mac Ceallabhui combined before Micheál Doherty’s handpass was collected by McGuinness and, from close range, he hammered beyond Haughey.

Early in the second half, Flanner, McGettigan and Gallagher tacked on points.

On 47 minutes, Naomh Conaill got in for a fourth goal, finished by Flannerty following a sweeping four-man move.
