ST NAUL’S WERE celebrating victory in the County Division 2 Under-16 League final on Sunday against Gaeil Fhánada.

The side from Mountcharles, who are under the joint management of Stephen Griffin and Shaun Campbell, were 1-10 to 0-8 winners in Convoy on Sunday.

A three-point interval lead in awkward windy conditions was overturned in the second half.

“I was happy at half-time only three points down,” Griffin said afterwards. “We got back level and then pushed on. The goal at the end finished it off. That put us over the line. The wind kind of spoiled the game. But we did just that wee bit better with it.”

St Naul’s can now look forward to the Under-16 Division 1 championship where the well-supported team will have a spring in their step.

“We’ve moved up to Division 1 in the championship and we have Ardara now in a few weeks,” Griffin added. “It’s all systems go. Our support has been great all year. Long may it continue.”

Griffin spoke to Alan Foley afterwards …
