FINN HARPS defender Thomas McMonagle reached a fine personal milestone at Dalymount Park.

In starting the game against Bohemians, the 25-year-old Burnfoot man became the 65th player in Finn Harps’ history to play 100 games for the club.

“It’s great to get 100 games for any club, but especially for a club like Finn Harps with great history,” McMonagle told Donegal Sport Hub.

“A lot of great players have done this so it’s great to join them.”

Bohemians spoiled the occasion as second-half goals by Jake Kelly and Ismahil Akinade gave the Dubliners a 2-0 win.

McMonagle said: “The result could have been better, but we’ll take positives. We played well, but we just didn’t take our chances. If we had taken the chances we’d have won the game.”

Tonight’s game ends the second series of games with the third beginning next Friday night when Harps host Derry City at Finn Park.

McMonagle, a former Derry player, added: “This time 12 weeks time could be a massive game. We’re not afraid of the battle. We know we’ll be in the battle. We’ll try and push on – but we’re ready for a battle if needs be.”
