ORGANISERS of the Donegal Marathon – which will be staged on Sunday, August 21 – have appealed for volunteers to attend a ‘Volunteer Evening’ next Thursday in Letterkenny.

The ‘Volunteer Evening’ will be held on Thursday, August 11, at 7pm in the Radisson Blu Hotel.

“Each year, the Donegal Marathon relies on volunteers to ensure the efficient running of the event. If you can help out in anyway, please attend this volunteer evening,” said a spokesperson.

The Donegal Marathon takes place on Sunday, 21st August 2016 at 9.20am and the Donegal Marathon committee is encouraging teams to book early for the inaugural Donegal Marathon Team Challenge Cup, a new addition to this year’s event.

The relay event is open to all businesses, charities, sports clubs, societies and community groups and anyone who can pull together a team of three or four to compete in the race.

By bringing communities together through a community tourism initiative for the diaspora, this event is supported in partnership with Donegal County Council, Fáilte Ireland and IPB Insurance.

Now in its third year, the Donegal Marathon takes place on Sunday, August 21.

Registration for the 2016 event is now open and participants can register via wwwdonegalmarathon.ie.

Last year, over 700 people participated in the Donegal Marathon and organisers are expecting an even bigger turnout in 2016.
