ST JOHNSTON MAN Shane Porter has signed for NIFL Championship outfit Dergview for the 2016/17 season.

The 21-year-old centre-back put pen to paper with the Darragh Park outfit after scoring in their 9-2 pre-season friendly win over Ardstraw tonight.

Porter has been playing pre-season with the side managed by Richard Clarke, tonight having been his fourth outing for The Constitutes.

Dergview compete in the Championship, the same tier as Derry club Institute, and finished 11th last season.

Porter played in the Donegal League Premier Division last term with Gweedore Celtic, scoring 14 goals in all competitions.

Previously, he has donned the colours of Letterkenny Rovers, Finn Harps and Institute as well as his native Kildrum Tigers. Indeed, Porter remains actively involved at Kildrum as manager of the Under-14s at Station Road Park.

“I’m delighted to get signed up and I’m really looking forward to it,” Porter said.

“Dergview are a good club and the boys have really welcomed me in since I joined up there a few weeks ago.

“I’m buzzing to get going and hopefully nail down a place in the team.”

Dergview play their opening League game on August 13 away to Harland & Wolff Welders before hosting Loughgall a week later.
