DONEGAL SCHOOLBOYS Under-13 captain Conor McDaid has told of his ‘pride’ after leading his side to Foyle Cup glory.

A 2-0 win over Oxford United at Maginn Park this evening secured the prize for the Gerry Crossan-managed team, who had goals in the second half by Joel Gorman and Rory Pyper.

“It’s a brilliant feeling. It’s great to get a cup in the bag,” McDaid told Donegal Sport Hub.

“We’ve been up early every morning and the hard work has paid off for us now.

“We wanted the Foyle Cup. It’s brilliant to win it. I feel so proud wearing the armband and the Donegal crest.”

Four minutes into the second half, Gorman fired Donegal ahead and, after Adam Murphy rattled the crossbar, the killer second was netted by Rory Pyper.

McDaid said: “They were tough to break down, but we showed them how to play and luckily we got the two goals.”
