MARK ENGLISH SAYS he’s ‘feeling good’ again as he returned to winning ways today with the road to Rio now firmly on.

English goes to Rio for the 2016 Olympic Games at the end of next month and today won his fourth Glo Health National Senior 800m title.

The Letterkenny man breezed through his heat yesterday and today took gold in 1 minute 51.48 seconds.

Clonliffe’s Declan Murray was second and English’s UCD AC mate and fellow Donegal native Karl Griffin (Donegal town) was in third.

“It was very strong from first to eighth,” English said.

“To beat Declan and Karl who are in 1:47 and 1:46 shape was was very good coming back from injury.

“It’s a good day for me. The plan was just to sit back until 600metres and move up the gears for that. It opened up with 150 metres to go. I turned on the jets and went from there.”

In March, English suffered a stress reaction in a metatarsal and was forced to miss the World Indoor Championships.

However, the double European medallist says he’s back on form again.

He said: “I feel good. It’s a good day for me. I feel good and hopefully more to come. The priority is Rio. The excitement is starting to go.”
