Brendan Boyce’s place on the plane for Rio Olympics has just been confirmed

ATHLETICS IRELAND this evening announced Brendan Boyce has been nominated for selection to the Olympic Council of Ireland for the Olympic Games in August.

The Milford native will take part in the 50k walk in Rio having walked a world and Olympic standard in March in Dudince, Slovakia.

The Letterkenny Athletic Club member broke his own county and PB in a time of three hours and 48 minutes.

In London 2012, Boyce finished in 29th position in a time of 3:55:01.

Robert Heffernan will lead a strong team of 50km race walkers. Half marathon teams for the European Athletics Championships have also been picked.
