MILFORD CONTINUE TO evolve in the AllSportStore.com All-County Football League Division 2, with a five-point win at a bare-boned Cloughaneely on Saturday evening.

Cloughaneely 0-10 Milford 2-9

In horrendous conditions it was Cloughaneely – who had just the 15 in the panel – who started brightest registering the first score but in the third minute with Mark Harley on the mark, but with Milford’s first attack of note, Gary Merritt hammered to the net from a tight angle.

Cloughaneely responded well to go a point ahead with Darren Ferry and John McGarvey posing scores before on 12 minutes Milford got a huge slice of luck when an underhit David Curley effort was spilled by the Cloughaneely keeper Shaun McClafferty into his own net to leave the score 0-4 to 2-0.

Milford got further good fortune right on the stroke of half time when Cloughaneely had Ciaran McFadden Snr for kicking Christopher Barrett on the ground with the score 0-5 to 2-4.

The 14 men of Cloughaneely responded very very well after the break and closed the gap to just 3 points, but when the pressure was really on in the middle third of the half Milford back with three of their own put six between the sides. Cloughaneely threw everything they could at the boys but 2 top top class saves from Caolan Mc Gettigan late in the game saw the boys emerge with a hard earned win, 0-10 to 2-9.
