DONEGAL CREWS had some success in their classes at the Monaghan Stages Rally yesterday.

There was little joy in the overall field for Donegal drivers, with Josh Moffett winning in the Fiesta from his brother Sam, the 2013 Donegal International Rally winner.

After the nine stages, Josh had 40 seconds to spare on Sam with the S12B Subaru of Niall Maguire a further 30 seconds back in third.

The Donegal Mini Stages Rally winner, Jonathan Pringle, was fourth overall and the top two-wheel drive car.

Cloghan’s Damien Tourish, with Domhnall McAlaney on the notes in the Escort, was eleventh overall and the winner of Class 13.

Letterkenny crew Shane Forde and Darragh Mullan were out in the Citroën C2R2 for the first time and they took the spoils in class 2. They had the edge on another local pair, Marty Gallagher and Dean O’Sullivan in the Fiesta.

Adrian Sweeney from Drumkeen, who had Shane Buckley as navigator in the Peugeot 207, was the top man in class 11F.

The Carrs, Shane and Ciaran, from Ramelton were second in class 10 in the Nova (pictured above).
