Injury leaves Seamus Coleman unlikely for Wembley

SEAMUS COLEMAN SUSTAINED a hamstring injury yesterday that looks set to keep him out of next weekend’s FA Cup semi-final.

Coleman limped off in the 53rd minute of Everton’s 1-1 draw against Southampton at Goodison Park yesterday, meaning he’s now in a race against time to be fit.

Everton face Manchester United next Saturday at Wembley in an FA Cup semi, but the Everton manager Roberto Martinez was downbeat about Coleman’s chances of playing.

“Seamus felt his hamstring. We’ll assess him in the morning but it’ll be hard to see him involved this week,” Martinez said.

“That sort of injury will take a bit longer than a week.”

The Republic of Ireland assistant manager, Roy Keane, was a spectator at Goodison, but Coleman’s injury is not expected to be severe enough to raise doubts about his participation at Euro 2016.
