LIVERPOOL SUPPORTER ODHRAN MCMACKEN got a pleasant surprise today ahead of their Europa League quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund at Anfield tonight.

The Letterkenny Rovers midfielder, who is currently recovering from a cruciate injury, made the trip with John Blaney, Vinny Pyper and Caolan Bolton from Ramelton and are staying at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool.

Today, in the hotel lobby they bumped into Dortmund’s Marco Reus and Mats Hummels, who were training at non-league Marine FC this morning.

Both are German internationals with Hummels helping Germany to win the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, a competition Reus missed with an ankle injury.

“We’re staying in the same hotel,” McMacken said from Liverpool this afternoon. “Complete chance, they were just on there way back from a training session.

“The city is buzzing now, loads of Dortmund fans about. They’re top class fans.”

A second year Business student at IT Sligo, 20 -year-old McMacken is hoping for Liverpool to progress to the last four of the Europa League tonight and will be at Leackview Park on Sunday to see Letterkenny Rovers take on Ringmahon Rangers in the FAI Intermediate Cup semi-final replay.
