ST MICHAEL’S INFLICTED a third straight loss on Glenswilly in at AllSportStore.com All-County Football League Division 1 in Dunfanaghy.

A goal from substitute Raymond McLaughlin put the seal on the victory on a day when goalkeeper Dean McColgan made his first appearance for the seniors.

At half-time it was 0-5 to 0-4 for St Michael’s, who had a greater spread of scorers over the course of the hour with Glenswilly reliant on Gary McFadden, who would score five points in all.

The visitors have now went down against Ardara, Naomh Conaill and St Michael’s, although certainly have time on their side to turn things around.

Going into tonight’s contest at the Bridge, the home side were also without a point having got beaten by Dungloe in their only fixture to dates.

Andrew Kelly’s fantastic free from almost on the sideline gave St Michael’s the half-time lead by a single point against Glenswilly, while Ciaran Gallagher, Lee Carr and Michael Langan also found their range beforehand.

Ciaran Bonner saw a goal chance blocked two minutes into the second half and that would’ve put Glenswilly in front for the first time.

Kealan McFadden tied it up from a 35th minute free but it was St Michael’s, not Glenswilly, who used that as the springboard.

Carr, with points from play and a free, and Langan pushed St Michael’s 0-8 to 0-6 up – with O’Donnell grabbing a Glenswilly score in that period.

But when there was a chance to push further on, St Michael’s took it when Glenswilly lost possession and Carr, Langan and Brian McLaughlin were all involved in a build-up that saw Raymond McLaughlin score the only goal of the game.

Gary McFadden did score two late points but it was St Michael’s who claimed victory.
