COCKHILL CELTIC WERE left cursing their luck in the EA Sports Cup tonight when they went down to a single goal defeat by Finn Harps.

The back-to-back Ulster Senior League champions more than held their own at Finn Park, losing out 1-0 when Ethan Boyle scored the only goal of the game.

The visitors from Inishowen created a number of decent chances and went close three times in injury time when Malachy McDermott saw Richard Brush scramble to save before Garbhan Friel twice almost forced extra-time.

“We were just unlucky,” McDermott said. “It just wasn’t to be. It’s all down to luck on the night. We’ll just have to give it another rattle next year. For an intermediate footballer that’s the sort of teams you want to play. I’ve never played senior football so that’s close to it.”
