A superb header from captain Adrian Donaghey-Doherty was enough to see off the challenge of St Eunan’s Letterkenny.

On 42 minutes, which is two minutes into the second half’ Donaghey-Doherty rose highest to plant a free-kick from Killian O’Rourke into Dylan Doogan’s net.

St Eunan’s had edged it till then but the goal was by far the best piece of play from either side in the match.

With a 1-0 lead, the Buncrana side sat back but, on 67 minutes, produced a good breakaway and Doogan had to save to dent them a second goal – with Caolan McGonagle having the chance.

Chances came and went at both ends towards the conclusion.

St Eunan’s substitutes Jack Murphy and Jordan Nugent combined for the latter to draw a save from Cathal McNutt from a header.

It was Aidan McAleer’s Scoil Muire side that went closest. O’Donnell shot over and then had a chance to pull the trigger but just delayed a second too long.

At the other end, in the last minute, it was Donaghy – the only goalscorer – who had a superb last-ditch tackle to deny Dylan O’Brien.

Peter Lee and Paul Browne’s St Eunan’s side shaded a first half that took a little while to settle. On 20 minutes, Finnian O’Donnell managed to get away on a break, only for Keith Elliott to clear.

Then, five minutes later, Daragh Ellison’s shot went just over the crossbar after a pass from Brendan Barr.
