DEFENDING OSCAR TRAYNOR champions Inishowen League are back at the semi-final stage after seeing off the Galway League this evening.Galway League 1 Inishowen League 2

First-half goals by Glengad United duo Nigel McMonagle and John G McLaughlin fired Diarmuid O’Brien’s team to a win.

Galway, managed by Letterkenny native Gareth Gorman, were a different outfit after the break but, despite pulling a goal back, couldn’t reel in the stout Inishowen side.

Brendan McLaughlin slipped McMonagle in to find the net for the opener and things got even better for Inishowen when McLaughlin powered home from a set piece.

The win means that Inishowen – who defeated Limerick in the final last season in Buncrana – now face the Leinster Senior League at home in the semi-final.

The Donegal League are already through to the semis and will be away to Clare at the end of March.
