DRUMOGHILL FC DEFEATED second placed Milford to consolidate their place at the top of the Brian McCormick Sports Donegal League Premier Division.
Brian Mc Cormick Sports Premier Division
Milford United 2 Drumoghill F.C. 4
Drumoghill got ahead in the race for the title with an away win in Milford.
Milford started well scoring through Damian Casey after good work from Kyle black. Drumoghill came back well in last 20 minutes of the first half with Richie Moore scoring from 18 yards and then Gerard McGrenaghan scored after Milford failed to clear.
At start of second half Milford started well but failed to convert chances until Joey Cullen headed home to level matters. Richie Moore converted a penalty and then Chris Malseed scored late on to ensure three points for the visitors.

Cappry Rovers 0 Kilmacrennan Celtic 7
Kilmacrennan Celtic moved off the bottom of the Brian Mc Cormick Sports Premier Division with this comprehensive victory over Cappry Rovers at Cappry Park leaving their hosts rooted firmly in the automatic relegation spot.
It was a close enough opening period with only Seami Nani Friel’s goal between the sides at the interval. Christopher Dillon made it two early in the second half before Daire McDaid helped himself to a hat-trick to leave five goals in the difference.
Kilmacrennan were not finished however and Gary Gorman added two more goals to complete the rout. Kilmacrennan visit Emerald Park next Sunday while Cappry will be in action at Station Road.
Castlefin Celtic 1 Gweedore Celtic 0
Castlefin Celtic secured a vital win against Gweedore Celtic in an even affair played in Park View on Sunday.
The home side began the brightest and Ronan Tourish broke through but found his effort off target after 10 minutes.
Gweedore’s Shane Porter had a header well saved by Castlefin Keeper Simon Mc Menamin following a corner from the right. Castlefin’s Ronan Tourish and Emmett White had efforts well saved from visiting keeper Michael McKelvey.
In the second half the home side’s best opportunity came in the 65th minute when Emmett White cut inside and unleashed a strike from 25 yards which cannoned off the crossbar. The hosts kept plugging away and were rewarded when Ian Ward latched on to a Johnny Doherty flick to smash into the net deep into stoppage time.
Best for Castlefin: Kieran Brennan and Peter Bryson. Best for Gweedore: Michael Mc Kelvey. Referee: Patrick Martin
Temple Domestic Appliances Division One
Convoy Arsenal 2 Keadue Rovers 0
Keadue set out to keep things tight and managed to frustrate Convoy for long periods of the game.
Convoy created a few good chances in the first half but were either wasteful in front of goal or found Ben Boyle in inspired form in the Keadue goal. It was more of the same at the start of the second half but Keadue almost took a surprise lead with around an hour gone.
A quick counter attack left them through on goal only for Chris O’ Donnell coming to the rescue with a double save for the home side. Convoy’s pressure eventually told when Ryan Carlin volleyed home from the edge of the box in the 65th minute. The relief was evident as it looked like it was going to be one of those days for Convoy.
This now meant that Keadue had to push on in search of an equaliser which played into Convoy’s hands and they should have made the game a lot more comfortable. They had to wait until the 80th minute to get their second of the game.
It was that man Ryan Carlin again who poked home when Johnny Robb headed a great Darren Harvey free kick back across goal. Convoy pushed for another but Keadue held firm and the game finished 2-0 to Convoy.
Cranford United 4 Lifford Celtic 1
Cranford made a bright start to the game putting pressure on the Lifford defence and forcing them back.
This pressure paid off when Keelan McGee broke down the left wing and put it on a plate for Andrew Kelly to head into the top corner. Cranford continued to press and again attacked down the left wing with Kelly cutting onto his right foot and riffling into the top corner for his second.
Lifford responded well, and had a good spell of pressure before half time. Ten minutes after the restart they drove down their left wing and a good cross resulted in a push from the Cranford defence and the resulting penalty was slotted home to bring Lifford back into it.
Kelly completed his hat-trick not long after that when a mix up at the back allowed him to toe poke home. McGee then secured victory with a fine shot from long range.
Gweedore United 1 Lagan Harps 2
On thirteen minutes Chris Toner made great break from the left hand side and tried to play in Kevin Kelly but a great interception by Frank Mc Gee stopped a certain goal.
Gweedore had a good chance on seventeen minutes from a great through ball from Shane O’ Donnell resulting in Paul Ferry shooting wide. Kevin Kelly blasted over after good work from Marty Brogan on twenty five minutes. On forty four minutes a great through ball released Marty Brogan who finished low past the Gweedore keeper.
A real suckered punch in first half injury time resulted in Paul Ferry finding the net from thirty five yards. On forty eight minutes a great cross from Daniel Clarke was cleared with Kevin Kelly ready pounce. Lagan poured on the pressure and a Gerard Hilly through ball fell to Kevin Kelly who forced a wonder save from the Gweedore keeper.
From the resulting corner Travis Crawford missed with a poor header. On seventy five minutes Lagan had big shout for penalty with Philip Doran going over. Toner then played a great one two with Kenny Doran and finished superbly from eighteen yards.
A massive effort and result by the men from the Lagan. Best for Gweedore were: Shane O’ Donnell and Paul Ferry. Lagan’s best were Kevin Kelly and the industrious Chris Toner.
Donegal Town 2 Raphoe Town 3
Donegal almost retrieved what at one time looked like an unsurmountable obstacle.
Three headed goal from Raphoe Town at the start of the second half gave the East Donegal men a great advantage. Donegal Town are made of stern stuff however and they pulled back two goals before the action was called to a halt. An entertaining affair at the Hospital Field.
CT Ball Division Two
Eany Celtic 4 Curragh Athletic 2
Eany Celtic played host to Curragh Athletic on a fantastic sunny Spring afternoon.
The home side got off to a great start taking the lead with an early goal from Paul Mc Groarty in the first ten minutes. Curragh weren’t phased by going behind equalising a short time later through Tim Callaghan.
Both teams battled well in the first half with Cathal Charlton playing very well in the Eany goal making sure Curragh did not take the lead.
A fine goal from Mark Ward gave Eany the lead going in at the break however. The visitors got off to a faster start in the second half with Shea Hannigan scoring to equalise before Eany settled into the half playing some great football. Pauric McHugh then finished off a great passing move to put Eany in the lead for the third time. Mark Ward popped up again from centre back to score his second of the game and secure the win for Eany with ten minutes to play.
Letterbarrow Celtic 3 Deele Harps 2
This game was played in perfect conditions and saw the home side prevail 3-2.
Both teams started at a high tempo and it was Letterbarrow that took the lead after fifteen minutes when John Corley slotted home from 10 yards after a miskick by the visitor’s left back. Conor Catterson scored an equaliser from close range on forty minutes to leave the sides level at the break.
Letterbarrow started the second half strongly and were duly rewarded on fifty five minutes when John Roper broke through on the right and found the corner of the net after a fine through ball from Gerard Mc Brearty. Mc Brearty’s hard work created the opening that led to Letterbarrow’s third on eighty minutes when he blocked down a clearance and set up John Corley who coolly slotted home from the edge of the box.
Brian Breslin scored a consolation goal for Deele in the sixth minute of added time. James Mc Groary and John Kenny were best for Letterbarrow.
Glenree United 2 Whitestrand United 1
The home side struck first when Colin Gallagher tried to dance his way through the defence only to be fouled on the edge of the area.
Damien Nelis stepped up to see his free kick strike the wall and end up in the net as the deflection sent the keeper the wrong way in the 43rd minute.
But the lead didn’t last long because the away side replied right after the second half kick-off when Kevin Mc Carry slid in to claim the equaliser after good work from the left winger. It was a tough game as both sides were looking for the next goal and it came through a Barney Boyce free kick after Kevin Doherty was upended in the 59th minute. It was all Glenree after the goal and they could have stretched their lead even more through substitute Patrick Mc Groddy. Johnny Martin had Whitestrand’s best chance of the second half from a free kick.
The game ended with a victory for the home side which keeps them well in contention for promotion with only 4 games to go in the league. Best for Glenree were Kevin Doherty and Damien Nelis. Referee: Liam Mc Laughlin
Ballybofey United 7 Copany Rovers 0
Ballybofey United made the most of their home advantage to record a high scoring victory over Copany Rovers as the season enters it’s closing stages.
Again the Ballybofey outfit have lost control of their destiny at the top of the CT Ball Division Two of the Donegal Junior League. But with results elsewhere going their way the side led by PH Bonar could yet end the season with something to show for their endeavours. Damien Glackin was again the main destructor adding a hat-trick to his impressive season’s tally.
Mark Griffin chipped in with two goals while Niall Mc Closkey and the youngest member of the team Aaron Mc Auley scored one apiece. The victory sees them gain ground on Deele Harps who lost at Letterbarrow Celtic but with Erne Wanderers and Glenree United both winning it is getting congested at the top of the table.
Dunkineely Celtic 3 Erne Wanderers 5
Erne Wanderers visited Dunkineely Celtic for the day’s early kick-off.
The Ballyshannon outfit, playing their first season in Sunday football in recent times, have performed well so far this season and are well in the running for League honours and Promotion. At Darney Park on Sunday they defeated Dunkineely Celtic by five goals to three. This victory keeps Alan Dorrian’s side in touch with Glenree United and Deele Harps at the summit of the CT Ball Division Two.
Ulster Junior Cup quarter-final
Kildrum Tigers 0 Glenea United 0
(Kildrum Tigers won 3-2 on penalties a.e.t.)
Neither side could break the deadlock in the opening ninety minutes so this match went to extra time. Again the teams were deadlocked when additional time had elapsed. The penalty shoot-out saw the hosts Kildrum Tigers prevail on a scoreline of 3-2. Well done to both teams on a closely fought battle by the Foyle.
Ulster Junior Shield
Semi Final
Glencar Celtic 0 Killylough F.C. 2
Glencar Celtic did everything but score in this semi-final. Hoping to progress to face fellow Donegal Junior League side Glenea United Reserves, who won in Cootehill on Saturday, Glencar took the pitch against their Cavan/Monaghan League opposition.
There was little between the sides throughout but the visitors took advantage when a few chances came their way and Glencar Celtic will have to wait another year to try for a Provincial crown.
