Finn Harps confirm awarding of Premier Division licence for 2016

FINN HARPS HAVE been informed this afternoon by the Football Association of Ireland that they have been awarded a Premier Division licence for the forthcoming season.

The club confirmed the news on its official Facebook page.

Harps have been carrying out a series of upgrade works to Finn Park over the last number of weeks and had sought a derogation on three sections of the licencing document: seating capacity, floodlighting and the dressing rooms.

With only 350 seats at Finn Park, a good bit short of the stipulated 1,500, there had been fears that the club would have been instructed to install more seats, but the FAI chiefs have given a pardon.

Seamus Gallagher is carrying out improvements to the dressing room area while Harps have a list of 23 minor improvements to be carried out before they play host to Derry City on Friday, March 4 with a new medical room and a new control room also to be erected.

The club has installed a new crush barrier at the Town End of Finn Park, something that will increase the capacity of the venue to around 4,500.
