Donegal League disciplinary meeting to discuss Deele-Ballybofey abandonment

THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE of the Donegal League will later this week discuss an abandonment of a CT Ball Division Two fixture that took place today.

Terry Leyden, the Donegal League Disciplinary Secretary, has yet to receive the referee’s report from match referee Barry Hunter, who called a halt to today’s clash between Deele Harps and Ballybofey United at the Athletic Grounds in Lifford.

Shane Gallagher’s goal meant Deele were 1-0 up when Hunter abandoned the match 17 minutes from time.

It is understood that there were spectators encroaching the field of play in a contest where there was little in the form of controversy, with just one yellow card handed out over the course of the 73 minutes.

“We are due to have a disciplinary meeting on Thursday night in any case and the fact that a match was abandoned means it will be discussed then anyway,” Leyden told Donegal Sport Hub this evening. “We have not received the referee’s report as yet so are not in a position to comment further on the matter.”
