CALUM GALLAGHER and LyIT will head into their Trench Cup semi-final in confident tune.

Eamon O’Boyle’s team had 28 points to spare in a one-sided win over Cavan Institute at O’Donnell Park today, the Port Road students winning by 6-11 to 0-01.

The opposition lacked in quality, but LyIT are in good shape – buoyed by the addition of Neil Gallagher to their ranks.

“We knew that we’d have to come out from the start,” Calum Gallagher, the LyIT captain said.

“We showed no mercy and we drove on.”

The Naomh Bríd man, a son of 1992 All-Ireland winning full-back Matt Gallagher, added: “We have a good presence in the forward line. We have good strength in the panel.”
