Jordan Boyce is first Donegal Sport Hub Sports Person of the Month

NEWTOWNCUNNINGHAM DART thrower Jordan Boyce is the first Donegal Sport Hub Sports Person of the Month.

The new monthly awards, in association with Michael Murphy Sports, were launched in January and 16-year-old Boyce is the first recipient having played at the World Youth Championship final in January at The Lakeside.

Boyce was beaten 3-2 by Joshua Richardson from England in the final after putting on a brilliant perfrmance and it was only late in the game that Richardson pulled away.

To reach the final, Boyce defeatedBrandon Nicholl, Pricilla Steenbergen, Maikel Verbek, Callum Graham, Graeme Hamilton and Job Ten Heuvel.

The six qualifying rounds were held on one day in October in Hull.

Recently, Boyce has won the Donegal Darts Youth Competition and the Donegal Open while he won his first cap for Ireland.

The Deele College student is now looking forward to the All-Ireland Championships and will compete at youth and adult levels.
