THERE WERE FOUR Donegal ladies on the NUI Maynooth panel that won in the O’Connor Cup for the very first time in Belfast on Wednesday night.

Milford’s Amber Barrett and Niamh Carr, Shannon McGroddy from Termon, St Eunan’s Lauren O’Connell are all part of the panel.

Carr and McGroddy were in from the start as they helped the Kildare-based university to a 3-12 to 1-12 win over Queen’s University, Belfast, while Barrett – who scored two late goals in Donegal’s 3-4 to 0-8 Division 2 win over Weatmeath on Sunday – was rested.

Maynooth are home to Dublin City University in the next series of fixtures before travelling to take on University College Cork.
