Down v Donegal: The Twitter reaction

DONEGAL MADE light work of Down in Saturday’s Allianz League Division 1 opener in Newry – here’s how the world of Twitter saw the 17-point win.

[adrotate group=”24″] Michael Murphy’s sideline kick last night #wowSome, like Denis Lynch, were purring over that sideline kick by Michael Murphy

‘A machine’ as Mark McDonnell called the Glenswilly man

Michael Murphy is just a machine!

— Mark Mc Donnell (@MarkMcDonnell5) January 30, 2016

Thankfully Khiarán – or Ciaran – there’s plenty more left in him

Donegal will never see another footballer quite like Michael Murphy.

— DJ Khiarán (@Call_Me_Ciaran) January 30, 2016

Another feature of the game was Peter Boyle’s penalty save from Donal O’Hare – and Sean Perry could prove to be right here.

Peter Boyle has put himself in pole position to be Paul Durcan’s successor#donegal #gaa

You could feel the pride from Erneside

What a moment for Ballyshannon club man Peter Boyle. Fabulous penalty save! @aodhruadh #AllianzLeagues #donegal #gaa

Aaron Kernan was among those impressed by Donegal

Tough night for Down. Hugely impressive from Donegal typified by Ryan McHugh. Class throughout. Composed & always has time on the ball.

— Aaron Kernan (@AaronKernan) January 30, 2016

The quality of McHugh’s first goal certainly caught the eyes

That was brilliant, but so so easy for Ryan McHugh – ran right through the Down defence there – Donegal 8 points clear, 41st minute.

— Tommy Rooney (@TomasORuanaidh) January 30, 2016

It was hard to know what the overall feeling will have been, but this perhaps was on the money:

Donegal decent win but let’s face it, Down are horrible #downdown

— Dermot Mckillion (@DermotMckillion) January 31, 2016

Gus, you’ll notice, doesn’t hold out too much hope for Down

To think that Monaghan and Tyrone would fancy themselves against Donegal. Down really are in the dumps.

— gus lennon (@lennon_gus) January 30, 2016

In contrast, Kevin thinks Donegal can make real inroads

That is some ‘hommering’ Donegal dished out to Down btw. Expect them to make a major charge in 2016.
