THE DONEGAL CONTINGENT on the St Patrick’s College side went down to Galway-Mayo IT in Drumcondra in the Independent.ie Sigerson Cup.
GMIT ran out 1-12 to 0-9 winners and will take on University College Cork in the next round next month.
Killybegs’ Hugh McFadden (main picture) was at midfield for the teaching college, with Niall Friel from Gaoth Dobhair at right corner-back and Kilcar’s Aodhán McGinley (pictured above) came on for the last two minutes.
The away side were 0-6 up at half-time and in Damien Brennan, who scored 1-6 and the vital goal 12 minutes from time, had the game’s star turn. Westmeath’s Shane Dempsey kicked seven frees for St Pat’s.
