Inishowen League: Glengad and QPS look to narrow the gaps

THE INISHOWEN LEAGUE swings back into action this Sunday after the Christmas break.

Glengad United will hope to get back to track after their pre-Christmas defeat to leaders Clonmany Shamrocks when they host Aileach FC at The Crua.

Shane Byrne’s Glengad, the defending champions, suffered their first League defeat of the year when Mark McLaughlin’s early goal sealed a 1-0 win for Clonmany.

Glagad trail Clonmany by ten points and have three games in hand – one of which is Sunday’s game against Aileach.

Second-placed Quigleys Point Swifts can also close the gap on Clonmany when they travel to face Illies.

Brian Bell’s ‘Point were held to a scoreless draw by Greencastle on their last outing and lost 3-2 to Buncrana Hearts the week previously so they, too, are aiming to return to winning ways.

In the First Division on Sunday, Redcastle host Cockhill Youths while the Reserve League Shield semi-finals are on Sunday morning: QPS Reserves are at home to Greencastle Reserves with Aileach Reserves taking on Sea Rovers.
