LETTERKENNY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY this afternoon learned of their schedule when the Independent.ie Trench Cup and Corn Padraig MacDiarmada get underways in the New Year.

Eamon O’Boyle’s side were seeded for today’s draw at Croke Park and consequently await the winners of the preliminary round tie between IT Tallaght and Cavan Institute, who are scheduled to meet on January 26/27.

LyIT will be home for that quarter-final fixture on February 10/11.

The other last eight ties sees Dundalk IT welcome Limerick IT or Mark Immaculate, while Waterford IT are home to IT Blanchardstown or University of Ulster Coleraine.

The British Universities GAA (BUGAA) champions are automatically placed in the semi-finals of the competition. The finals weekend, which will be hosted by University of Ulster Jordanstown, take place on the weekend of February 19/20.

In hurling, the LyIT travel to take on University of Ulster Coleraine in the quarter-finals of the Independent.ie Corn Padraig MacDiarmada on February 4. University of Ulster Magee have a home draw against Cavan Institute in the other last eight tie.

The winners of those two ties will then face one another in the semi-finals on February 16, at a neutral venue. Whoever progresses from that fixture will take on the British Universities GAA (BUGAA) champions in the final at Cork Institute of Technology on February 26 as part of the Fitzgibbon Cup weekend.

The draw for the Sigerson Cup was also made and it will be of significant interest to Martin McHugh, who is part of the University of Ulster Jordanstown management team – the Belfast college are hosting this year’s event.
