NORA STAPELTON’S OLD BELVEDRE will contest the final of the Women’s All-Ireland League after coming through their semi-final on Sunday.

Old Belvedre beat Blackrock, who have Moville native Katie Norris in their ranks, on an 18-13 scoreline at Stradbrook.

Sophie Spence’s try for Old Belvedere cancelled out Carrie Hanley’s opening try but when Jeamie Deacon touched down a second for Blackrock, they led 10-5.

Stapleton (pictured above), a two-time Six Nations out-half, replied with a penalty to leave her team just 10-8 behind at half-time.

The Fahan native added a second penalty eight minutes into the second half to edge Old Belvedere in front 11-10.

Deacon replied with three points at the other end but Old Belvedere saw out the game when Sharon Lynch scored a late try that was converted by Stapleton, which brought her total for the day to eight points.

UL Bohemian, who defeated Railyway United 21-16 in the other semi-final in Limerick, provide the opposition for Old Belvedere at Donnybrook Stadium this coming Saturday.
