Letterkenny Institute of Technology learn CUFL semi-final opponents

LETTERKENNY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY today learned their fate for the Division One semi-finals of the CFAI Colleges and Universities Football League.

Shane Byrne’s team have been paired with Institute of Technology Carlow B, with the other last four tie seeing NUI Maynooth B taking on Dundalk Institute of Technology.

With the Umbro Cup starting on the week of January 27, the CUFL semi-finals will take place in early February at neutral venues.

LyIT won four of their five outings in Group A. They opened with a 3-0 win over NUI Galway before losing by the same scoreline to Dundalk IT.

Afterwards, back to back home wins were recorded against Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (5-3) and IT Blanchardstown (2-1). LyIT then enjoyed a 4-1 victory at IT Sligo.

Carlow also  finished with 12 points from five games, in their case in Group B.

They hammered Sallynoggin College of Further Education 7-0 and then came away from Mary Immaculate College with a 1-0 win. The good form continued with a 6-1 victory against Limerick IT  only to go down 3-0 to ITT Dublin (Tallaght). Carlow confirmed their top spot in Group B with a 3-1 success over Maynooth.
