ALL THE POINTS came in the second half as Letterkenny Under-16’s got the better of Carrickfergus last weekend.

Letterkenny 12-5 Carrickfergus
The starting 15 minutes where quite messy as both teams where adapting to the windy conditions. Letterkenny kept short passing and used the forwards more often than the backs.
For the last 15 minutes both teams where quite even going from 22 too 22,yet again both teams had many opportunities but could not follow through.
Both fly-halves would then resort to the only option of kicking for touch. The first half ended at 0-0.
Letterkenny went into the first half with a hunger for a win that we needed with the spirit and self belief of the whole team and excellent fast balls and phases by the scrum half and the forwards from the half way line Conor McMenamin scored the first try followed by a conversion from Fionn McGarvey.
A few minutes later after some good play from Carrickfergus their fly-half scored a try in the corner but did not score the conversion.
With a small lead of two points Letterkenny raised are game with some brilliant rucking. They were patient and calm and went through the phases for James Sweeney to score the second try from a pick off from the scrum and leading his team from the front in the last play of the game.
Fionn McGarvey narrowly missed the conversion. The referee blew the whistle for full time Letterkenny 12-5 Carrickfergus.
Great performances from Eoin Stevenson, James Sweeney, Brian McHugh, Conor McMenamin.
