JIM MCGUINNESS’S Celtic Development squad defeated Rangers 1-0 in the SPFL Development League at Murray Park this afternoon.

Former Donegal manager McGuinness has passed his UEFA ‘B’ coaching licence and will this year begin taking his ‘A’ licence.

The Glenties man, who managed Donegal to the 2012 All-Ireland win, was recruited by Celtic in 2013, initially working as a Performance Consultant with the first team at Parkhead.

McGuinness remained at the club after Neil Lennon’s departure and stayed on during Ronny Deila’s tenure.

McGuinness still works with the Hoops’ first team under Brendan Rodgers and is working closely with the Development squad as part of his own coaching development.

McGuinness is a coach with the Tommy McIntyre-managed team.

Just before half-time today, Calvin Miller fired home the only goal of the game to secure the Old Firm win.

McGuinness had four success-laden years as Donegal manager. The capture of Sam Maguire in 2012 as well as three Ulster SFC wins and appearances in another Ulster final and All-Ireland final meant his reign was the most successful period ever for Donegal football.
