TWO GOALS from Cillian Morrison enabled St Eunan’s to overcome Glenswilly in the All-County Football League Division 1 this afternoon at O’Donnell Park.

Glenswilly, who went down to Kilcar and drew with Four Masters thus far, are still after their first win of the campaign. Today they managed just two points from play.

The last time the two neighboring teams met was last July, when Glenswilly, perhaps infamously, were 0-3 to 0-2 winners over the Letterkenny side Division 1.

Both are under new management now, with Adrian Glackin’s Glenswilly taking the lead from a free from Kealan McFadden, only for St Eunan’s to post four on the couch through Michael Miller, Morrison’s brace and a Patrick McGowan score.

Glenswilly got back into gear with a pointed free from Gary McFadden, only for Conor Gibbons to restore St Eunan’s three-point lead at 0-5 to 0-2 on 20 minutes.

Further points from McGowan – the second of which was a free – and Gibbons edged the St Eunan’s team under the management of Eddie Brennan and Barry Meehan further ahead. The were 0-8 to 0-2 in front at half-time.

Morrison scored the opening goal of the contest two minutes into the second half when he cut in from the left-hand-side and when faced with Philip O’Donnell’s advancement, rolled the ball underneath the Glenswilly goalkeeper.

Glenswilly’s best passage of play on 38 minutes almost brought a goal. However, Cathal Gallagher slapped onto the St Eunan’s crossbar and then Ryan Hunter’s fizzler was blocked on the St Eunan’s goal line. Kealan McFadden, did, though, score his side’s first from play with the follow-up.

Gibbons came to the fore in the second half with three points in succession before Morrison’s second goal on 48 minutes. Gibbons’ ball looked to be dropping short but Morrison got a touch with the fingertips and the ball sneaked over the line for a 2-11 to 0-5 lead.
